Liquid Controls (LC) Positive Displacement Flowmeters for Diesel
A priority for diesel fuel transfer, tanker loading/unloading and refined-product metering in Saudi Arabia is a suitable positive-displacement (PD) meter. Liquid Controls M-Series uses three synchronized rotors to measure displaced liquid volume; this is a different mechanism from an oval-gear meter. AMAC evaluates LC replacement model requests and complete fuel metering skids against the stated operating conditions.

Why LC rotary positive displacement for diesel?
The M-Series mechanically partitions liquid into measured volumes, using a blocking rotor and two displacement rotors in a synchronized assembly. This can be suitable for petroleum loading and delivery systems, particularly where repeatability, refined-fuel compatibility and an appropriate volumetric register matter. Final accuracy depends on the particular model, flow range, meter factor, calibration/proving practice, installed components and operating liquid.
LC meters are sometimes called “LC PD”, “Liquid Controls positive displacement”, “M-Series”, “rotary-vane/rotary PD” informally by buyers. For exact replacements, quote the nameplate series and entire model string rather than relying on “LC meter 2 inch” alone.
Common LC M-Series identifiers
| OEM model / family | Typical identification | RFQ caution |
|---|---|---|
| Liquid Controls M-5 | M-Series refined-product PD meter; size/connection options are version-dependent | Confirm line/flange size, pressure, product class and seal |
| Liquid Controls M-7 | M-Series liquid petroleum/industrial service family | Confirm exact variant and application class |
| Liquid Controls M-10 | M-Series product metering for refined petroleum, including diesel and kerosene | Confirm exact model, capacity, register and line installation |
| Liquid Controls M-15 / M-25 | Larger M-Series refined petroleum meter family options | Check current OEM drawings, flow capacities and rated pressure for variant |
| LC M-Series with electronic register | Meter plus pulser, ticket/totalizer or controller where required | Specify register model, power, communications, printer and batch valve integration |
A complete diesel transfer/loading metering package
- Meter assembly and matching connections, with fluid-class-appropriate construction, seals and bearings.
- Strainer/filter upstream to prevent abrasive damage; air/vapor eliminator to avoid false volume when air enters suction or loading lines.
- Pulse output and register/totalizer where needed; consider LCR-family or other specified display/control integration without assuming every legacy part is compatible.
- Temperature compensation, density and API reference conditions where the commercial requirement calls for corrected volumes.
- Upstream pressure/flow control, check and isolation valves, pressure protection and hazardous-area electrical compliance.
- Defined calibration/proving procedure, sealability and legal metrology documents where the job is for custody transfer.
Meter selection versus turbine or Coriolis
LC PD: attractive for correctly engineered petroleum transfer and batch measurement. Liquid turbine: often considered for clean, low-viscosity diesel where pressure drop, line conditions and stable viscosity permit good meter-factor performance. Coriolis: can measure mass flow and density directly, subject to line size, pressure loss, cost and suitability. Select by the process and accounting basis, not nominal accuracy alone.
Important operational exclusions and data
Do not use an LC part number from another fuel class without checking wetted material compatibility. Air pockets, flashing, filtration bypass, worn seals and absence of proper proving can undermine metering. A manufacturer may offer custody-transfer-capable configurations, but local compliance, type approvals and calibration records are a project requirement—not an automatic guarantee for every meter.
For replacement needs, send existing meter photographs, serial number, register type, calibration factor, drawings and whether only the meter body or the full skid is required.
